We’re a small, family-owned company led by our Chief Gem Collector, Lisa Rosen.

We love to share our passion for gems.

IGS has been a leader in gem education since 1998.

The International Gem Society was established in 1998 by gemologist Donald Clark. He retired in 2014 and passed the reins to the Rosen family, longtime IGS members. They promised to fulfill his mission of making gemology accessible and affordable.

IGS is one of the largest online gemological resources for hobbyists and professionals. In 2024, IGS expanded to include Gem Junior, it’s first gem education program for kids. The program includes an online course and a mystery gemstone subscription box. The goal is to share our passion for gemstones with the next generation.
